Where it all began...
At age two my daughter was potty-trained; she weighed 18 pounds at the time. While I was ecstatic she was out of diapers, I quickly learned she had lost her crutch. Her pants were too big! I didn't know where to turn. Winter was quickly approaching, I knew I couldn't have her wearing tights all winter — not in Kansas anyway...
I decided to take matters into my own hands. I sew — square things — pillows/curtains/blankets. Not. Pants. But I had to do something. So I took a stab at making her pants myself. They weren't perfect, that's for sure. But at least she wasn't wearing floods, she was warm, and she didn't look (dare I say it) - "skinny".
I have often wondered what other parents do in this situation. I realize sewing isn't a common skill these days. Why would you, when you can go out and buy clothes so easily? Oh, wait. That word easily. Not the case for us, right? Well, that's what lead me to start Pants for Peanuts. It is my hope to help parents who find themselves in this situation.
I know how frustrating it is to: Shop. Return. Buy pants two years smaller than their age. Return. Shop again. — It's all a cycle. Chances are, you're running between doctors appointments, feedings after feedings, worrying about your child. Parenting is tough — add health issues to it — life is complicated. Shopping for kids' clothes should be fun, not stressful!
